tom montagu: I am a fit and healthy, non-smoking, 64yr old Englishman looking to complete another section of his 'bucket list'. I have been sailing offshore yachts since I was 17. between 1964 and 1973 I sailed on a wide variety of yachts ranging from 50ft and 54ft gaffers to modern 1/2tonners to a 77ft ketch. From 1973 to 1982 I lived in Edinburgh and sailed, again, on a wide variety ofn yachts from 19ft to 40ft as crew, crew-boss and somrtimes as skipper. From 1979 to 1982 I was the Scottish agent for a (then major) sailmaker. My family moved down to Felixstowe in 1982 and from then until until 1992 the yachts I sailed on included a 40ft 1tonner and a 30ft 1/2tonner, on both these boats I was the crew-boss. Although I haven't raced much since 1992, I still sail fairly regularly on a Swan 43. I can steer competantly with either wheel or tiller, trim and splice. To date I have never been seasick---I am competant crew! For most of my life sailing has been as natural to me as walking and although previous attempts to achieve this trip have been scuppered by unsympathetic bosses, this time, given the opportunity, I WILL go. My preference would be to be on a yacht doing the ARC, but is not essential.

hannahuk: I have a positive attitude towards life, people and my work which I can guarantee will be with me on board!
