Cyclo Traveler stuck on Indian Subcontinent - In Need for Boat!

Position (1st): Short Term Work
Position (2nd): Hostess/Steward
Age: 20
Nationality: German
Location: India
Last logged in: 2 days ago

florian_augustin: Hello everyone! My name is Florian, I am 20 years old, from Berlin, Germany. I’ve cycled from Berlin to India so far - my planned destination actually being Papua, Indonesia. I reached India 4 months ago. Since then I have been trying to find a way across to SE Asia without flying, which proves seemingly impossible. I have gone through ALL options, all surface borders are closed to German Passport holders, Burma, which is the country that links me with SE Asia from here lets tourists only fly in. I am on an environmental mission to bring international awareness to the spread of deforestation in Indonesia to the Papuan archipelago. I would rather fly home from here already than resort to airplanes on my way to Papua. So I am desperately looking for somebody that I could sail away from here with! In fact, it doesnt even have to be SE Asia anymore… if somebody is bound for the Mediterranean and willing to take me, I wouldn't hesitate to join and head home! So, currently I am in Mumbai (19. Feb 2012) and I could be in any port in India, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh within, lets say, 1 week. Even Andamans or Lakshwapweep Islands I could make in a few days more. I am a very industrious, highly enduring, independent yet cooperative and sociable, modest, fun-loving, flexible, adaptive and creative, hard worker. I speak various languages. German and English fluently, French and Indonesian as confident second languages. Indonesian especially would prove very helpful to all of us in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the waters around it! Although I don’t have any blue-water sailing experience, I believe that I may be of great help on board. I am a very motivated and quick learner. What ever task I will be given, it will be performed with responsibility, commitment and gratitude. Seriously, somebody get the treehugger out of here, please! To learn more about me and my current “mission”, go to www.augefilms.blog.com (I am an environmental documentary and roadmovie filmmaker). I am looking forward to hearing from some of you! Any advice, comments, feedback are greatly appreciated! Love, Florian

Miss Mayena

Bubbly team player looking for a position as an experienced stewardess

Position (1st): Hostess/Steward
Position (2nd): Short Term Work
Age: 33
Nationality: Australian
Location: France
Last logged in: 8 days ago

Miss Mayena: My ideal position would be on a 60-90m world traveller, in the service department. I have an extensive background in hospitality at different levels along with experience as second stewardess on a 40m. This brought an interesting variety of guests which has been really positive in terms of being challenged and adapting to different styles of service. Through my experience thus far I have determined that along with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, what makes a great stewardess is the ability to anticipate the actions and needs of the guests and always be a few steps ahead where possible. Moreover, through all my previous work experience I have developed excellent people skills and a professional work ethic with a strong focus on Service. I adapt very quickly into new roles and approach all that I do with a sense of perfection. I thrive on new challenges and find satisfaction in accomplishing tasks at the highest standard.

Libby_Boyd

RYA Yachtmaster available!

Position (1st): Delivery Crew
Position (2nd): Short Term Work
Age: 27
Nationality: British
Location: Malaysia
Last logged in: 26 days ago

Libby_Boyd: I recently passed my RYA Yachtmaster, and am looking to expand my horizons. Am based in Malaysia until April, but am then free for deliveries in Asia and further afield. I have over 3000 miles sailing around south east Asia, and am familiar with the regatta circuit (have some experience as regatta crew, and am also a dinghy sailing instructor, so trimming is my speciality). Happy to skipper passages around south east Asia; happy to crew anywhere.

I'm also interested in short-term/seasonal work of any sort, immediate start possible, but especially April-September.

A bit about me: I'm female, 27, from the UK, a keen sailor in all weather, and I like to think good company as well. I speak several languages, French and Mandarin to basic conversational level (French a little rusty, Mandarin more current) as well as the basics in various others, and am always interested in learning more. Guitar player and occasional singer. Well-read (and always happy to have more books thrown my way). Anything you'd like to know, just ask.

Young man looking to gain experience in whatever maritime form - none prior

Position (1st): Short Term Work
Position (2nd): Amateur crew
Age: 20
Nationality: UK
Location: United Kingdom
Last logged in: 40 days ago

melboy91: I am a 20-year-old man from the UK approaching the end of studying at University, and looking to spend a year out in an unconventional manner - that is, crewing boats or ships. I am flexible in length and pay is negotioable if board is included, and I really just want the experience that crewing a ship and seeing the world can give.

enthusiastic kiwi

Enthusiatic kiwi with sailing experience looking for a ticket to ride

Position (1st): Amateur crew
Position (2nd): Short Term Work
Age: 22
Nationality: New Zealand, Netherl
Location: New Zealand
Last logged in: 43 days ago

enthusiastic kiwi: Having grown up sailing with my family I have experience on a range of boats, a great level of enthusiasm and a love of the ocean. Though I haven't sailed long distance I am really keen to give it a go, I learn quickly and am incredibly practical. I also have working knowledge of boat building techniques as I am currently helping restore boats with the Wellington Classic Yacht Trust and am slowly creating plans for my own built dinghy (starting small, then I'll work my way up!). I would love to find work or passage toward europe or experience doing more long distance sailing with a plan to eventually get over to the med and try my hand sailing around as much of the world as I can!
