1st Mate - Permanent - Min exp 6 years - €3500 - General (Caribbean)

Immediate Long Term Position open for: 1st Mate / Deckhand on a Luxury Private Sailing Catamaran.

Start date: Immidiatly
Start location: Grenada
Destinations: Caribbean, Florida then across Panama to the Pacific (cruising all year round)

Mainly sailing with owners, sometimes guests and very rarely chartered.

Yacht is an 84-foot Sailing Catamaran.
The yacht is crewed by Captain + 1st Mate + Chef

This position is for all inside & outside duties, please read full description.

Duties include: Ropes, exterior maintenance, cleaning, Sailing, Tender boat, Maintenance, Serving meals & drinks, laundry, water toys, anchoring..etc

Requirements:
- Standard qualifications
- Confident in Sailing
- Confident in putting up sails unsupervised
- Padi certified is an added bonus but not a deal breaker
- swimming/lifeguarding
- Engineering aspects ex. Mechanically & Electronics
- Previous Catamaran sailing
- Friendly & professional
- Fit and healthy
- Hard worker and able to multi-task
- Professional in serving food
- Drink preparation and serving skills

Whatchout!! with the owner

The owner and the agent of this vessel are a pair of trickters. At the end of my contract they looked for a lame excuse to not pay my wedges. I try to file a complain in Sweeden but lawyers charge 250 eu p/h. The owner is an spoiled egotistic racist and abuses and treats the crew like slaves.

Amazing catamaran

This catamaran is an absolute fantastic vessel. Originally layed up by an aero space company in France and then finished out by JFA yachts (also France) the boat is fast, very well engineered and a pleasure to sail. Twenty knots are not hard to accomplish. Great sail plan, winches and blocks are “right-sized” and she’s very stable. In many sense a dream to sail.

I spoke with the agent , and they looking for a chef who clean as a stewardess in the free time. Just captain and deckhand on board , so chef will be also a stew ! That’s shame . They have to write better what’s exactly the job for don’t make people wasting time .
