Atlantic Adventure-Looking for Competent Crew , Mile building - South Africa to Caribbeans
The journey begins in the quiet harbour of Saldanha, South Africa, where the boat rests like a coiled spring, ready to leap into the open ocean. From here, we set our course into the South Atlantic, bound for the remote and legendary island of St Helena—a solitary speck of rock rising from thousands of miles of deep blue. After a brief stop to rest, resupply, and walk the same ground once trodden by explorers and exiles alike, we push westward.
Our next landfall: Natal, Brazil. Tropical heat, the smell of the rainforest, and the pulse of Brazilian culture will greet us as we arrive after weeks at sea. From there, the adventure turns north as we sail along the vast and vibrant Brazilian coastline, hugging the continent while riding warm currents and steady winds.
The route then carries us through the wild beauty of French Guiana and Suriname, where we’ll drop anchor for a day or two in secluded rivers, colourful towns, and remote anchorages few sailors ever see. Each stop will offer a chance to discover new cultures, hidden harbours, and unexpected stories.
When the time feels right, we will launch into the final crossing—chasing the tradewinds toward Martinique, the emerald jewel of the Caribbean. By the time we make landfall, we’ll have spent around two months riding ocean swells, exploring distant shores, and living the kind of adventure most people only dream about.
