Cruising East Coast & then further

I am looking for a crew member (preferably female) to join me for E coast cruising, at the start of the season (May 2024)
Then the Azores beckon ( early June). After that
then cruising Atlantic Spain & Portugal and likely Madeira.

Crew will be expected to stand watches, hand, reef and steer but not expecting full competence. Keenness and a willing to learn more important plus a sense of fun. Important that you don't suffer from seasickness.

  • Boat descriptionThere are several cruising boats that have gained reputations as safe and capable offshore designs. Among these the Vancouver 28, designed by Robert Harris, it stands out as a small boat with truly big boat capabilities. Several of these boats have ventured far and wide around the world, including this one. With me she has completed a transatlantic crossing, cruising in the Caribbean, a Pacific crossing to NZ (singlehanded) and South Pacific island cruising. A truly capable boat. Conceived from the start as a boat to sail the oceans of the worlds, these boats are stable, easy to handle, and with great load carrying ability, plenty of stowage for provisions and good water tankage. No effort has been made to provide more than three berths, so they are not cramped, with the settee berths being long and wide and there is 6-foot-plus headroom. The galley with a two-burner stove and an oven is to port and chart table and the quarter-berth is to starboard the chart table is large enough for a real chart and the quarter berth is an excellent sea berth. The head and forepeak storage are forward of the main saloon bulkhead. Sea Bear is kept well maintained, is well equipped for cruising with modern navigation equipment and carries a good complement of safety equipment. She is fitted with windvane self steering gear so making passage-making a pure joy.
