Caribbean Cruising in Luxury Catamaran

UPDATED 20 April 2024.
Having crossed the Atlantic, then slowly cruised the Caribbean northwards from Grenada to the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, we are now cruising south again from St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands to Martinique.

My passages are for people who want to improve their sailing skills in a safe and sound vessel. I am not offering a sailing vacation charter, although fun is part of the reason I do this. You are committed to learning on the go, no seasickness, no medical issues, no vegans or special diet requirements or allergies to foods.

Longer term crew are preferred although short term crew (minimum of 14 days) will be considered.

Jalemar is a well equipped luxury Fountaine Pajot Elba45 sailing catamaran, Maestro owners version with 3 king-size shared cabins each with its own full en-suite, a well equipped chefs galley, 3 large separate outside socialising areas and a fully enclosed half-fly helm.

Some sailing experience is a pre-requisite, with attitude and aptitude equally important. There is a daily contribution by you of US$100 that includes all your onboard expenses and excludes any land costs and mooring fees. You are responsible for your own land costs, arranging your own visas in your passport, which is valid beyond 2024, and your own travel insurance. Maximum of 3 crew plus owner/captain, with 1 or 2 crew (same sex or couples) to each en-suite stateroom.

You are respectful trustworthy and honest, clean fit and agile with no medical issues. Strictly non-smoking non-vaping enthusiastic sailors with an easy positive and fun attitude welcome.

Absolutely no seasickness, no special diets and no alcohol or drug addictions. You will enjoy an equal share in all activities including helming, sail handling, route planning, navigation, anchoring, food prep, cooking and cleaning. All crew will participate independently in all duties including any watch system as set by the captain.

Please ensure to also read my additional boat info and captain/skipper info, thank you.

Captain is a non-drinker, stable, trustworthy, knowledgeable and safety conscious with 24,000 ocean miles and 16 years of sailing experience.

If you love sailing, speak good English and know instinctively how to contribute to a positive onboard experience, please message me your relevant details. Be sure to include any sea miles, the dates you are available and any other relevant onboard skills.

Thank you in advance for your interest.

New Captain

Hello, While this new captain should feel proud for taking on the challenge of sailing a large catamaran and her intentions are good, expect a fair amount of stress and ill will aboard when situations are less than ideal. In years to come, imagine this will get worked out.

Fabulous experience

I joined Jalemar in Catania, Sicily and sailed across to Malta. Had a great experience and learned a lot. Met some great people and gained lots more confidence in my sailing skills. Thank you and happy to speak to anyone who is considering this.

Excellent adventure

Jemima and I had a fabulous time aboard Jalamar in July 2023. We explored southern Italy and Silicy over 2 weeks. We had perfect combinations of sailing, planning and visiting towns, with plenty of time to relax, swim and take in the surrounds. Jalamar is beautiful and definitely raised our standards for future crewing ;). Jaqaui was incredibly accommodating and knowledgable, providing Jemima and I with plenty of tips and tricks about sailing a catamaran. Overall a relaxed vibe with plenty to do. (Oh and excellent food I must add ;) Elliot
