Watch: Cruising off of Beachy Head

Skipper/owner looking for non paid crew for Cross Channel & UK cruises. Heading to the Med in July!

I'm looking for crew with some experience, not necessarily a vast amount but no near novices or people that haven't sailed for 5 years or more. Competent crew level or above.
I have a quick Ocean rated 36 foot cruiser/racer. She has had many upgrades in the 12 months I've owned her. Large rig and sail area and recently new sails and latest instruments.
Weekends or weekdays as I am semi retired. Destinations in months April to June will be Cross Channel and some longer South Coast UK cruises.

In July, I hope to have 1 or 2 new crew members that gel well with myself and the other crew want to sign on to her down to the Mediterranean with me and explore the whole thing and the Greek Islands and up into the Black Sea eventually.

I would love to head off to Asia eventually but that's a long way off and I believe the Med and the Agean, Ionian and Black Seas' will be enough for now and whilst it good to have goals, take it one step at a time.

Until July though, we will be based in Southampton.
I'm currently, Skipper Engineer and Navigator. Also, I do most repairs and all marine electrical work myself. So many hands make light work. I am close to having her ready but finding a permanent crew member who I could rely on to help me occasionally when there are jobs that require two pairs of hands, would make me a happy man.
I traded my way up to this lovely boat by buying and refitting a couple of smaller, older cheaper boats. I own her outright and have worked very hard and spared no expense to have a fast yet comfortable blue water cruiser to follow a lifetime of dreams and ambition.

I would Prefer non smokers but I vape occasionally to relax if I cant sleep but never around people. Occasional smoking tolerated when not on stand - But No smoking below please!

  • Boat descriptionShe's a quick boat, sails well in light winds and points upwind very closely. A big rig for her size. Full masthead rig with Large Genoa and generous sized Main. 95 SQ Metre cruising chute with snuffer Brand new. 4 Man Life Raft Jonbouy Man over board recovery system. Jackstays & Clip on leads & cockpit clip on points Raymarine Chartplotter/MFD above Helm Wheel and can be mounted at the chart table Raymarine EV1 motor driven Autopilot with P70s Head Brand new Garmin Wind sensor and GNX instrument display & through hull Airmar Smart Triducer for depth, and water speed, pitch, roll &leeway angle. This is networked to a Garmin GNX20 MFD next to the Wind instrument on the cockpit coming. VHF-DSC Radio and AIS unit at chart table. Active dual band Radar Transponder. Digital Yacht-iNavconnect Wireless router with WL50 router and WiFi access point with long range antenna, providing a WiFi network and WiFi/ Ethernet integration to the yacht's instrumentation & NMEA Network. All passages are planned, plotted and logged on paper charts and log books. Then the routes and waypoints are entered into the Navigational equipment and as the skipper and navigator, this is periodically checked and cross referenced. If the boat ever lost power, I could fix our position and navigate using the Ship's Compass and a hand bearing compass and the chart. I have 2 hand held battery powered VHF radios as backups. The 2 & 3 year old sails have just been valeted, serviced and treated. I am also replacing all the running rigging that is in constant use under sail. Brand new 4/5 man Tender with fully reconditioned 6HP outboard engine. Large refrigerator, microwave, stereo, 12 volt TV. 300ah lifePO4 Utility Battery fitted on 3rd March this year Offgrid solar power and AC Inverter coming soon. Some of the sailing will be to shakedown the vessel in readiness for the Atlantic but some of it will be cruising when the Winds are light. Coming out of Southampton and into the Solent. So I am looking for crew from March until mid Summer for UK waters & Cross channel sailing and suitable candidates for the Med in July or both even! The plan is to have her ready from mid March onwards. A second set of hands for a day or so will make her ready for the first trip of the year happen that much sooner. I'm planning a hop across to France over the Easter weekend ?
