Circumnavigation starting 2025

We - Simon (66), and Gemma (55) - will be starting a 'trade winds' circumnavigation in November 2025 and are looking for like-minded couples to join us for one, or more, of the various passages of the trip.

Crew will be us and one couple for each passage ie. a total of four people. Passages are likely to be of one to four weeks duration.

We'll be starting with the ARC+ (Las Palmas to Grenada via Cape Verdes) in November 2025, and working our way westwards thereafter.

We are looking for enthusiastic couples (omnivores without dietary needs please) with sailing experience, who will be confident with night watches. Ocean experience is not necessary. You could join us for one, or multiple passages (not necessarily contiguous).

All duties onboard will be shared, as will be the day-to-day costs (though not repairs, which we are responsible for).

Of course this is a fair way off but we'd like to give plenty of opportunity to anyone interested to get to know us and, of course, to make plans. We'll be sailing in the Med for the next two summers (2024, and 2025) so if you'd like a trial sail that can easily be arranged.

If you think you might be interested do get in touch, we'd be delighted to hear from you!

  • Boat descriptionEVANGELINE is a Moody 46 built in 1999: a cutter rigged, centre cockpit, sloop with a Volvo Penta TMD22 (5000 hrs). We've owned her for four years during which time we've sailed a few seasons in the Med (Greece, and Italy mostly), and done an Atlantic circuit with WCC rallies (ARC+ in 2022, and ARC Europe in 2023). Currently EVANGELINE is overwintering in Valencia before we head east for the summer. Accommodation is a double berth aft, a double berth fwd, and two single bunks aft of the fwd berth. One 'en-suite' head and shower aft, and one head and shower fwd. Although fit for six, a crew of four is most comfortable. Rigging The majority of Evangeline's important gear is less than three years old: - standing and running rigging - steering cables - sails (except spinnaker which is probably original) - communications, AIS, radar - nav gear, instrumentation, and autopilot - liferaft, lifejackets (with MOB1 AIS devices), jackstays, fire extinguishers. Safety equipment We have equipped EVANGELINE to comply with ARC requirements or better. If you're interested I'll send you full specs. Comfort We have a watermaker (daily showers), generator (hot water), and Starlink (fast internet access - though we do try to restrict this to twice daily so it doesn't 'take over'!). Hydrovane wind steering.
