Trawler Yacht Monara seeks crew for Alaska to Hokkaido Japan, exploring the Aleutians
Since we left Belgium in July 2021, Monara has traveled over 18.000nm, exploring both land and sea on our route.
Monara is a 1960 trawler yacht, slow, but spacious and comfortable, with a vintage interior, but all modern amenities and navigation aids required for comfortable cruising.
During the summer 2024 we want to explore the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, starting from Kodiak, and work our way West along the Ring of Fire. From Attu, the most western island of the Aleutians, we make a crossing to Hokkaido, in the North of Japan, hugging the Russian Kuril Islands.
We are two permanent crew on board, but I need at least one extra person as a deckhand, to assist on the watches, for mooring etc...
Our aim with Monara is to make cruising a pleasant adventure, we like exploring, loved diving, surfing and swimming in the tropics, we love good food and enjoy meeting new people.
Cost of living and berthing fees would be shared. Fuel will be shared up to Dutch Harbor, but for the crossing to Japan will be paid by me, the captain. We do prefer to anchor above a marina, so in general berthing fees are low.
Monara is not a sailing boat, but she will gladly show you what boat life is all about, you'll learn how to navigate and look after a boat, if you want you can participate in maintenance. We live together with our crew, and only take one or two crew members on board, to allow each to have enough space and the privacy of an own bedroom. We are not a cheap hotel on the water, we want crew members that are willing to spend some months on the boat. Monara is equipped with a Starlink satellite dish, enabling us to stay in touch with land as long as we hug the shores (not in Russia!). Please let us know if you like our plans, and check our adventures on www.monara.be.
