New Jersey to Maryland

I’m looking for some crew to sail with me from South Amboy, Nee Jersey (outside NYC) to the Chesapeake Bay (North East, Maryland).

The boat (1993 Hunter Legend 33.5) will be new to me, so I will be figuring her out as we sail, so I’m looking for at least one competent crew member. I’m willing to take novice too, esp if I can find at least one competent person.

Boat has 4 berths. Fore & aft cabins, and two in main cabin. Therefore, I’m willing to take a max of 3 singles, or two couples*** & one single.

*** couples include spouses, significant others, family or very close friends willing to share a double berth, but I will not pair two strangers in a double berth.

If not local, I’m willing to pick person up from airport or train station.

Boat transfer should take place sometime in May 2024.

The trip will be from South Amboy, NJ - down the Atlantic Coast, around Cape May, up the Delaware Bay & Delaware River, through the C&D Canal, to the Chesapeake Bay, and north to the Town of North East, MD.

Depending on crew and weather conditions, we may sail straight or make several stops. Stops may or may not include Atlantic City, NJ, Cape May, NJ, Lewes, DE, & Delaware City, DE

I’m not able to pay for travel, but can provide transportation to/from train station or airport.

Crew will be expected to contribute by (but not limited to) serve as lookout, work the helm, assist with sails, make sandwiches, etc

I will pay for all food on boat, fuel, and any potential marina fees (if we stay at one). If we dock and eat at a restaurant, restaurant meals are responsibly of crew to pay for themselves.

No alcohol while under way, few drinks at anchor is ok as long as it is in moderation. Hangovers would prevent us from sailing safe the next day.

The boat only has an icebox, so meals will not be extravagant.

Also, boat currently does not yet have solar. I’m not sure if we will have solar before departure, so if you have a need for a C-PAP, please let me know. Personally, I use a C-PAP, so it’s not a negative, but power consumption is something I’m seriously planning to take into consideration.

Finally, you must have your own medical insurance, as I cannot pay for medical fees if you need a doctor.
