Marine mechanic - Permanent - $2500+ per month - Aruba

Job Overview:
Join the dynamic team at Pelican Adventures as a Marine Technician/Mechanic and play a critical role in maintaining and ensuring the operational integrity of our fleet. This position involves extensive hands-on work with a variety of marine vessels, including catamarans, speedboats, and luxury schooners. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical skills, a passion for marine systems, and a commitment to safety and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair: Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on all marine engines, hulls, and electrical systems. Diagnose issues and repair marine propulsion systems, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
Inspections and Testing: Conduct regular inspections and performance tests on boat systems and components to ensure they are seaworthy and meet all safety standards.
Troubleshooting: Quickly identify the causes of mechanical and technical failures and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, parts inventory, and supplies. Ensure documentation meets company and regulatory standards.
Equipment Upkeep: Oversee the upkeep of tools and maintenance equipment, ensuring they are in good condition and stored properly.
Collaboration and Compliance: Work closely with the Fleet Maintenance Manager and other marine staff to ensure that all maintenance activities are coordinated and compliant with maritime regulations.
Safety Practices: Adhere to and promote rigorous safety protocols and environmental policies during all maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a marine mechanic or technician with strong understanding of marine systems, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Sails & rigging knowledge is important as well.
Technical diploma or certification in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Familiarity with the maritime industry's safety standards and protocols.
Ability to handle physical requirements of the job including working in confined spaces and lifting heavy equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
