Description:
Looking for an experienced and adventurous boat captain to support a swim around Ireland expedition. The role involves captaining a traditional 43ft Galway Hooker boat with an Nanni engine for approximately four months, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the vessel as it accompanies the swimmer along the coastline.
This is a volunteer position, but all food and essential expenses are covered. This is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, navigating one of the world’s most stunning and challenging coastlines while being part of an endurance swimming record attempt.
Requirements:
• Experience captaining a yacht, preferably offshore or coastal sailing
• Strong knowledge of navigation, tides, and weather patterns around Ireland
• Comfortable operating and maintaining a engine at low knots
• Ability to work as part of a small, close-knit team
• Adaptability to changing conditions and problem-solving skills
• Enthusiastic about adventure and endurance challenges
