Sailing the Inside Passage to Alaska and beyond!
I’m 40 and cruising Southeast Alaska aboard my 34-foot sailboat after sailing up from Seattle earlier this season — part solo, part with crew. I mixed inner and outer routes and stayed inside Haida Gwaii. The boat’s well set up for off-grid cruising with lithium batteries, solar power, AIS, and reliable systems.
I’ve been sailing for years and keep things safe, efficient, and pretty relaxed onboard. I can be direct — I like clarity, shared responsibility, and a clean, functional space — but I’m easy to live with if you’re self-aware, respectful, and comfortable with quiet stretches. I value good company, especially when it doesn’t need to be constant.
The boat is older, so things will inevitably break from time to time — but I’m very capable at fixing whatever comes up. The sails and running rigging are mostly new, I’ve redone the electrical backbone, and I’m currently upgrading the electronics to keep everything running smoothly.
Food onboard is strictly vegetarian, so please be comfortable with that — meals are usually simple, healthy, and shared, but you’re welcome to cook separately if you prefer.
Looking for someone clean, grounded, and curious — ideally around my age, but more than anything, someone okay with remote places, uncertain weather, and a slow, rewarding pace. No sailing experience needed if you’re present, willing to learn, and okay being unplugged.
I’ll be dropping friends off in Ketchikan on July 13 — that would be a great time to meet.
