Arcobalena calling - Greece 31st May/7th June
Hi everyone,
every year my associates and I, co-owners of Arcobalena, a Dufour 32 Classic, plan our summertime adventures as a long boat trip that starts in May and ends in September. We take turns every week or so as captains on the boat, each with one's own crews, so that we may be able to reach distant shores before we have to get back to the original port in Italy, where the boat will spend her winter.
This year's trip will be from Brindisi to the Aegean sea passing through Corinth, the Cyclades, on to the Dodecanese islands and beyond to the south western Turkish coast, then back to the Ionian Greek islands, then north over to Albania, Montenegro and southern Croatia, then northern Croatia, and finally back to Italy in Emilia Romagna.
When it's my turn to captain the boat, I sometimes invite old friends to join me, while sometimes I like to invite "friends that I didn't know I had", that is: potentially you who are reading these very lines of text :)
This allows me to grow and expand my network of sailing brothers and sisters, that I may invite over and over, year after year.
Who am I?
You can check my couchsurfing profile, it's a bit outdated but you may read what other people used to say about me: couchsurfing .com /people /prescious
What is my navigation style?
Visiting new places, feeling good onboard and making new friends through adventure is my joy and only motive.
Safety and crew serenity is most important: if weather conditions are not good, we will definitely dock the boat, rent a car, and go have a nice road trip around the place
Everybody does something onboard. I don't like to give orders, we all participate to the whole sailing trip any way we can and feel like.
No loud, lousy music on the speakers, no excessive quantities of alcohol, etc etc... I'm sure you get the idea of what types of boat trips I certainly don't enjoy. What I do enjoy is long talks under the sky, being at anchor in nice solitary bays at night, going to ports only when necessary, either for supplies or for a proper shower every now and then.
So, after due introductions, here is the sailing plan:
Port of embarkation: Patras (Greece), saturday 31st of May
Port of disembarkation: Serifos, saturday 7th of june
Mileage: about 170-200nm; the first 70 or so we will do rapidly, presumably navigating at nighttime the gulf of Corinth and early in the morning the canal of Corinth. This will allow us to have plenty of time to explore a few Aegean islands, most notably Kea, Kithnos and Serifos.
Crew and official language: I'm trying to put up an entire crew made just with crewbay members, so that it is well balanced F/M as well as sailing experience-wise and possibly age-tier-wise. Presumably 5 people or 6 at most, as there are 2 double berth cabins and two single berths. In my opinion, 4 people is also a great choice, as there would be plenty of room available for everybody, for a more easy going and relaxed, unpretentious, trip. English will be the official language onboard.
If you want to be part of the adventure, please reply to me and be sure to add something about yourself, what made my listing compelling to you in particular, your sailing experience in detail (I just want to make sure that I won't be the only one with actual useful experience on board), and your general expectations about the trip.
Hope to see you all soon!
With gratefulness, and joy,
Riccardo
