Joel will mislead you….. BEWARE!!!
Joel, a fifty something year old, was a liar from the start, promising myself and another young girl in her twenties that he would provide food for us as well as board (obviously) on his ship if we sailed with him to hawaii. He told both myself and the other young girl that there would be a crew of eight, but when we showed up it was just joel. He had no crew. At this point im not even sure if he was planning to take us to hawaii as planned; for he knew not how to sail and for all we know he could have had other plans for us two girls altogether. He was a shady sort of character , didnt follow through with anything he said he would provide, and he didnt even want to give us toilet paper when we asked for it. It was extremely uncomfortable and he made us feel very unsafe. Thankfully, the other girl and i trusted our gut and got the heck out of there before we could embark to hawaii. We were too scared to tell him in person that we were leaving (he was scary!) so we wrote a note explaining that we were leaving and left when he went to town to gather supplies. He texted the other girl upon discovering we were gone and accused her falsely of stealing from him. He then threatened to call the police if she did not return. She didnt steal, and no way was she about to return to this creepy dudes boat, and he continued to send her threats over message. It got so bad WE had to report it to the police. Do NOT let your guard down. Its a scary world out there and this guy is not to be trusted. He will try to manipulate you; joel is CRAZY. Lesson learned here for me and the other girl: dont trust weirdos from the internet like joel!!
