Essex to Circumnavigation of Ireland -8 weeks in July/August
Hi, I'm looking for someone to help crew on a long cruise this summer for 8 weeks or part of the journey. minimum 1-2 weeks, ideally 4-8 weeks. ( my plan is to raise money for RNLI )
Essex to Cornwall to Circumnavigate Ireland and finish in Cornwall. (taking time to explore the west and south coast of Ireland) first 2 weeks to northern Ireland and then 6 weeks for the west and south coast of Ireland. There should be plenty of dolphin pods around Ireland especially.
(Also if your around Essex and the river Blackwater I will do doing some day sailing and weekend sailing in Spring)
I have 2 small dogs who love sailing but as such we'll be anchoring and visiting land most nights with a dog walk most days.
I have day sailing experience and very little experience on long passages so this will be my first proper long passage apart from several long weekend trips and we'll go carefully but in summer I'm anticipating fair weather most of the time. I'm focused on sailing carefully minimising risks and slowly getting better at sailing trim, using the wind vane etc. (hopefully getting to use the Gennaker too)
Any experience is welcome, I don't anticipate much night sailing, so good sleep in anchor! (except maybe the first 2 weeks to make good progress but we'll also have my 18yr old son helping for the first 2 weeks who can share the V Beth with me.
Compact but very seaworthy boat, Long heavy keel, Vancouver 27 with auto tiller, wind vane, plotter, ais, VHF, radar reflector, toilet, gas cooker, co alarm, fire safety equipment, new beta 20hp engine, beautiful wooden interior, Mainsail, furling Genoa, Gennaker, (as it's summer probably won't be using the other smaller sails)
You would get a comfortable and wide quarter berth opposite the galley. 4g weather maps.
Pay for your food only. will be mainly anchoring with the odd marina stop.
Minimum motoring so will be going slowly in light winds or maybe even take the day off to explore the coast etc.
No alcohol or smoking on board, collective meals are meat free, eat what you want on land. Taking turns to cook depending on the weather and who's on helm.
