Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and professional First Mate/Engineer for a prestigious 32m private sailing yacht. This is a dual role requiring a candidate who is equally comfortable trimming sails and managing a high-tech engine room.
As the vessel is strictly for private use, the ideal candidate will demonstrate high levels of discretion, a proactive "can-do" attitude, and a commitment to maintaining the yacht to the highest standards for the Owner’s enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities
1.Deck & Navigation
Full responsibility for deck operations and sail handling (including captive winches and advanced rigging).
Serving as the Captain’s "right hand" during complex maneuvers and navigation.
Watchkeeping: Taking full command of watches during passages.
Supervising the deckhand to ensure the vessel’s exterior is always in "owner-ready" condition.
2. Engineering
Operation and maintenance of the main engine, generators, watermakers, and HVAC systems.
Expert troubleshooting of electrical (AC/DC), hydraulic, and plumbing systems.
Maintaining accurate engine room logs and managing spare parts inventory.
Leading winter maintenance projects and coordinating with external contractors.
3. Safety & Tender Operations
Acting as the Safety Officer, ensuring all LSA/FFA equipment is serviced and compliant.
Safe operation and maintenance of the tender.
Mandatory Requirements
Qualifications: Yachtmaster Offshore (Commercially Endorsed) is MANDATORY.
Engineering: AEC 1 & 2 (big plus);
Documents: STCW Basic Safety Training (updated), ENG1 Medical Certificate.
Experience: Proven experience (2+ seasons) in a similar dual role on sailing yachts between 25m-40m.
Attributes: Excellent communication skills in English (Italian is a plus).
