Crew Couple Wanted – Hallberg-Rassy 50 – ARC+ 2026 & Caribbean Season
My husband and I are the owners of a Hallberg-Rassy 50 sailing yacht and we are looking for an experienced and reliable crew couple (Captain + Cook/Mate) for an extended bluewater sailing program.
This is a private, owner-operated yacht (non-charter) offering a long-term sailing experience including an Atlantic crossing (ARC+), Caribbean cruising, and a return passage to the Azores.
Vessel
Hallberg-Rassy 50 – well-equipped bluewater cruising yacht with lithium batteries, generator, watermaker, induction cooking, washer/dryer, air conditioning, heating and furling sails.
Itinerary
Mid-October 2026 – Join in Lanzarote (Canary Islands) for preparation
November–December 2026 – ARC+ rally (Lanzarote to Cape Verde to Grenada)
Winter/Spring 2026–2027 – Caribbean cruising (owners onboard intermittently)
May–June 2027 – Return passage St Martin to Bermuda to Azores (likely ARC Europe)
Contract ends after preparing and securing the yacht in the Azores.
Crew Required
Captain
RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (minimum), Ocean preferred
Safety at Sea / Sea Survival
Short Range VHF (GMDSS)
Proven Atlantic crossing experience (multiple crossings preferred)
Strong navigation, seamanship and safety skills
Solid technical knowledge (engine, systems, maintenance)
Experience with owner-operated sailing yachts (45–60 ft preferred)
Partner (Cook/Mate)
Responsible for provisioning and preparation of healthy, practical and varied meals for up to 6 people onboard
Able to organise and manage the galley independently (owners will define preferences)
Comfortable standing watch and able to steer and manage the yacht independently for several hours in normal conditions
Basic sailing competence (Day Skipper / Competent Crew level or equivalent)
Organised, hands-on and able to work independently
Offshore or long-passage experience is a strong advantage
General Requirements
Couple with proven experience working together
Fluent English required (Dutch is a plus)
Positive, proactive and professional attitude
Comfortable managing the yacht independently when owners are not onboard
About the Position
We rely on the crew for proactive planning, weather routing, technical oversight and general organisation of the yacht.
During Caribbean cruising, the crew is expected to manage the yacht when we are not onboard, assist with planning routes and logistics, and contribute with suggestions for cruising and local experiences.
We value a good balance between shared time and privacy onboard, especially during longer stays.
We appreciate good, healthy food and a well-organised onboard environment.
Accommodation
During the ARC+ and return passages, family members may occasionally join onboard.
The yacht has an aft master cabin, a forward double cabin and an additional bunk cabin, with two bathrooms.
Crew will have their own cabin.
