Delivery Crew - Temporary / Seasonal - Cape Verde
Sailing (or delivery) – Sal (Cape Verde) to El Hierro (Canary Islands), April/May 2026
After spending the winter sailing along West Africa, it is now time to sail the vessel - a Huisman 37, a qualitity aluminum boat, in good condition and well equipped - back to the Canary.
In the first week of April, I will be in Sal (Cape Verde Islands), waiting for a suitable weather window (ideally winds from the East to NE ) to sail back to El Hierro (Canary Islands). The planned route will head towards the Azores before turning east in an arch-shaped course to the Canaries – takes about 7/9 days (ca. 1000NM). In case of winds from the West sector (more rare) the route could be more direct and much shorter.
Option 1 – April Departure
If a favorable weather window opens in April, I am looking for two experienced sailors to join me, to be a crew of three. All onboard costs will be covered, but not the expenses on a shore. Flight tickets from Tenerife back to Europe will be provided for each sailor.
Option 2 – May Delivery
If no suitable window appears in April, I will need to return home for work. In that case, the boat delivery will be entrusted to an experienced skipper with two crew members (a skipper is what I am looking for in this case), sailing to El Hierro in May when conditions are generally more favorable and a good weather window more probable. Costs for this delivery will be discussed.
Flexible Arrangements
For those already in Cape Verde—or willing to spend some time there while waiting for the right weather window—it may be possible to switch between Option 1 and Option 2 depending on circumstances. I am open for any suggestions.
