Mellow captain, beautiful boat!

5

Just spent a month cruising the exumas with Matt and my only regret was that I wasn’t with him for 6 months! As a captain, he is competent, safety focused, welcoming, and very patient. He has a lot of experience cruising in the Bahamas, and knows the anchorages, moorings, and cuts very well. He also treats his boat with care and keeps it maintained. If something breaks, it gets fixed. If it can’t be fixed, it gets replaced as soon as possible. Autopilot, AIS, boat & personal EPIRBs are all in order. Starlink, solar panels and a high capacity water maker are great perks as well. Easily the nicest, most comfortable boat I’ve ever been on. Hoping to join him again for cruising season next year!

Great Experience and a Great Time!

5

I joined Matt and Molly in Florida for about 2.5 months and it was a great time. I learned a lot in regard to boat maintenance, Matt was willing to teach and was a great teacher which allowed me to learn a lot and Molly was always there to help too. While I was there we took a week's trip to Marcos Island and it was full of adventure and learning what to do in certain scenarios. Both Matt and Molly are great, just have to make sure Princess Molly gets her attention and her playtime/fishing time in. I would definitely recommend this boat and adventure it is definitely worth it and was a great time!

Matt and Molly-dog adventures

5

What a wonderful experience it was being on Matt's boat for almost a month. It was a great exposure to what Catamaran life is like and it is sweeeeet... Matt's boat is modern and well-maintained with very private crew quarters and your own head!! Spending time on this boat is a great choice for new sailors as Matt enjoys sharing his boating knowledge and process with you. Matt's dog Molly is an absolute joy and readily accepts new crew and loves to snuggle and may try to lick you even in a place you may not enjoy!! This is a really great crewing opportunity and Matt likes to have at least one other person on the boat at all times for safety so he needs alot of crew assistance!! Matt also enjoys cooking so it can be a little vacation from that too if you'd like!! All the best... Donna

Great sailing trip!

My sailing adventure with Matt and Molly was great on boat Liz. Aside from being an excellent captain, Matt is mostly a great person. He is very kind, respectful and takes good care of others. I immediately felt at home on the boat and received a very warm welcome. Molly is an adorable dog who has the energy to keep everyone on board entertained. Despite my many travel adventures, this one is one that I will never forget and that I have very fond memories of. I look forward to seeing you again.

Best boat, captain and salty dog!

Ive been crewing on Liz since 04/22/22 and continue to crew on Liz. You will not find a more knowledgeable and kind captain that is easy going and loves teaching others. But you must love dogs! Because Molly the golden retriever, princess at large, rules to some extent lol, but she will steal your heart.

A wonderful experience in the Bahamas

I have been on Matt's catamaran for 2 weeks around Exumas, he is a very sweet, easy going, calm and polite person, a knowledgeable captain, but also a nerd who knows everything about technology, internet, videogames and so on... He also has on board a virtual reality viewer!! We had a lot to talk about. The boat is very beautiful and well equipped, my own cabin has a private toilet and shower. Molly, the most lovely golden retriver on earth is so gorgeous and affectionate. I am so grateful to have joined his boat and I have to thank you him and Marcia for the warm hospitality and the patience shown towards me. Looking forward to meet them again.

The best boat you can crew on!

5

I spent 3 weeks on this beautiful boat with Matt, Jeff, Kelsey and Molly, the cutest (and sometimes wildest) dog on earth! It was amazing! I felt safe from the very first moment and Matt went out of his way to make it for everyone as comfortable as possible. The boat is very nice, but still cozy, so I felt right at home. We did some small boat projects, like cleaning or installing a bilge pump but most of the time it's just about taking care of The Liz and of course, Molly, who needs her beachtime. :-) Matt is a very good captain, he knows what he is doing and always puts safety first. We had many good conversations about literally anything, and even though you might have different opinions from time to time, it is always very interesting, open-minded and respectful. I learned a lot about sailing, and so many other things by just exchanging ideas. The guest cabin is very nice, so there is always a perfect mix between privacy and having a good time together! Since we were cruising the Bahama's, we could do many trips to different islands and all kind of adventures I'll never forget. I have never been on a boat for a longer time before and didn't know anything about sailing, but this wonderful experience encouraged me to find a way to live the boatlife too! So if you ever have the chance to crew on The Liz, do it and you'll have the best time! And Matt, Kelsey, Jeff and Molly: Thank you for the great time, see you soon! :-)

Great time!

This was my first boat-life experience and it’s going to be hard to top! I had a great time in the month that I spent on board “The Liz” with Matt, his son Jeff, and their golden retriever Molly. The Liz is practically a brand new yacht so the projects we worked on were mostly upgrades to the boat and general maintenance. You definitely won’t be roughing it. The Liz was one of the best boats at the dock while we were there. It has many luxuries that most boats do not. The room was very nice and you have all the privacy that is possible on a yacht. You also have your own bathroom and shower which is something you won’t get on most boats. Matt is very knowledgeable about sailing and boats in general. He can teach you everything you need to know about sailing, boating, and maintenance. He makes safety priority number one and will never put you in a position where you could get injured. Matt and Jeff are both easy to get along with and make you feel right at home. They’re also incredibly generous with their belongings. Matt was kind enough to let me use his VR headset and Jeff even let me use his gaming laptop. As far as Molly, what can I say, you can’t help but love her, and if she does something bad you won’t stay mad for long. She was still a pup while I was there and just a ball of energy. As long as you’re respectful, leave politics ashore, and pull your weight with boat tasks, you’ll have a great time aboard The Liz like I did!

Amazing experience!

I was with Matt from December 2020- May 2021 and I would recommend this crew position to anyone. Matt is a highly knowledgeable, experienced and easygoing Captain who always puts safety first. He is a great and patient teacher, but also very collaborative with his crew, you will learn something new everyday. We sailed at least 3 times a week in the Gulf of Mexico. The boat itself is in brand new condition, with solar panels, water maker and lots of conveniences I haven't encountered on other boats. There are small projects and regular maintenance to do on the boat but I would not consider this a "project boat" where you would be nonstop working from 9-5. It is a luxury yacht, so sleeping arrangements, bathroom/shower and galley can't be beat. I am a 23 year old female traveling alone and I always felt safe and completely comfortable on the boat. Matt and his son Jeff really make you feel like part of the family and there is a great, easygoing attitude all the time. This has been a perfect next step for me in my sailing career and I would consider this boat to be a hidden gem on Crewbay that anyone would be lucky to crew on.
