Beautiful Classic Yacht based in Cornwall, UK

Moonshot is a Twister 28 designed by Kim Holman. Cosy, comfortable and a delight to sail. Our normal cruising area extends from Scilly to Torbay and Cherbourg to La Rochelle. Looking for enthusiasm, laughter and good company rather than sailing expertise. The skipper is retired now but has run a sailing school and taught to Yachtmaster level. With over 180,000 miles logged he has many stories to tell and a wealth of experience to pass over to those keen to learn.

Crew are expected to contribute energy, enthusiasm and fun, but if in addition, they are able to contribute to the costs of food, fuel and moorings, that is a bonus.

My wife, Judith, has also taught to Yachtmaster level and is an excellent and patient teacher and outstanding seaman. She usually manages to sail with me when we are persuaded to go to sea by an enthusiastic crew..

Moonshot is now launched and ready to go (April, 2021) and is available for coastal cruising and cross-Channel adventure when Covid permits

We are based in Falmouth and Moonshot has her own FB page as well as a private FB group called Moonshot Mariners.

  • Boat descriptionMoonshot is a Holman designed Twister 28 - fun to sail and eminently seaworthy. Like all good sea-boats her underwater profile is a traditional wine-glass in cross section and this, together with her long keel gives her exceptional stability and a smooth ride. Although a true classic yacht, Moonshot is equipped with modern navigational aids and an AIS transponder which not only enables us to track other ships, but sounds an alarm on the bridge of any ship that ventures too close. She is equipped with a liferaft and dinghy (with outboard) and all normal safety equipment including lifejackets and harnesses for each member of the crew. She has a pressurised hot and cold water system to the galley and heads, and an efficient refrigeration system which is always switched on so we eat fresh food and enjoy cold drinks!
