Sailor mike

First crewing opportunity.

Had a lovely day out on the water with Mike. He is a really nice guy with a wealth of knowledge and stories. An excellent, down to earth teacher who makes you feel comfortable the moment you step aboard. His boat is lovely and homely. We had a few hours sail around Portsmouth harbour learning how the boat handled. Would highly recommend. Learnt alot in a short space of time. Will gladly sail with Mike again.

A fun and educational trip!

I had my first experience on Crewbay with Mike and it was so fun! I travelled down from Cambridgeshire to meet him and we met at a cafe with no pressure in case either of us didn't feel happy about anything. I sailed with him for 4/5 days around the South Coast of England, over to the Isle of Wight, Southampton, Lymington etc. It was a really great trip, we experienced lots of different weather so this was particularly interesting when learning, and I definitely learnt a lot! I was a complete beginner and Mike was a good teacher and very passionate about sailing. He is easy to get along with and make conversation with. Due to COVID, it was a 1:1 trip but this was probably more beneficial for me when learning. He is very willing to pass on all the information he knows, but very understanding if you need some time to let information sink in! While we spent a lot of time together learning and sailing, cooking and having a drink in the evenings, it was also great to explore the places we moored and have alone time when needed. A really fun trip, thanks again Mike and hope to sail with you again soon!

Great weekend experience

Joined Mike for a short sail to the isle of wight. Had some lovely weather and a good enjoyable sail. Mike was really helpful and knowledgable about sailing and keen to teach. Hope to help out again soon.

First experience on CrewBay

I spent three days/two nights with Mike on his boat, on a trip from Portsmouth to Cowes and back, it was my first experience through crewbay and it was really excellent. Mike is experienced, knowledgeable, sensible, friendly and sets up clear ground rules, while one night was alone the second night we had another person join us also crewing from CB and they were also excellent company. Mike gives good direction while sailing and in addition to being a good captain is also a good teacher. I will definitely sail with Mike whenever I get the opportunity and recommend him to anyone that is also considering sailing with him, he clearly has a broad life experience and has a great temperament which makes him really comfortable company and you can really talk about anything, sailing related or not from the moment you meet him.
