Crew/first mate, travel partner, male or female.

I am looking for good company above all. Experience is optional. Brains, general competence, kindness, sense of humor, and sense of adventure are required. 36' is not a big boat. We sail it together and travel as a team. What you don't know, you will learn. Same goes for me..

We'll talk. My boat is on the Sea of Cortez. My back yard. Where we sail is stunningly beautiful. That's why we're there.

No drugs. No bi-polar disorder etc. (sorry, i just can't) No alcohol underway or in difficult situations, no falling overboard. We will learn to respect each other's privacy on board. Two rules really- safety and kindness.

We eat well. Local and fresh food when possible. Fresh fish when caught. We have refrigeration and never need to run the generator or engine to charge. I prefer small fishing villages and towns to larger ports, though I love both.

I will always stop to assist those who need help or tools or water or filter, or whatever it might be, even if it is not convenient to our schedule. I love learning from and being involved with locals when things come up.

Coffee? always and always the best we can find. Tea drinkers and vegetarians tolerated..

I've been on some sort of boats for most most of my life both professionally and recreationally. Growing up as a boy, I was always near the water. I was fortunate to have boats and boaters to learn from. I worked 17 years on commercial fishing boats in the US Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaska, and the Bering Sea. You will learn a few things doing that- or else. I am also a retired firefighter/medic, teacher in the outdoors, traveler, father, grandfather, good friend.

Living on my boat and sailing in Mexico for the last 6 winters has been wonderful. Often single handing but preferring good company, or none. I love steering by the sun and and at night by the moon and stars and planets, knowing the sky just a little bit better each time. I love taking my time near shore and between islands. love pulling in a fish for dinner, observing wildlife, hiking the beaches and back further inland to new views. I love mixing with the villagers in the small settlements along Baja. Love the desert; love the jungles.

As I was out for a walk last night, I noticed something again that I am liking. I am living on a beautiful island in the San Juans for the summer until I return to the sailing season in Mexico for the winter. I was noticing and musing that i don't really 'get used to' the beauty around me wherever I may be. More and more, I seem to take this beauty in with every breath and relish it and my good fortune to not only be in such beauty so much of my life, but to be able to appreciate it so immensely, and so much. -more than ever. I am so grateful for it all.

I would very much like to sail with someone who is also inspired and appreciative of such beauty and circumstance. Welcome aboard! Peter
