St Maarten to Bermuda, Azores and the Solent

Following our races in the Caribbean 600 and the Heineken St Maarten regatta, we are taking the boat back to the UK via Bermuda and the Azores. Planning to stop in Bermuda and then in Horta in the Azores for not more than a couple of days to rest and re-provision,

It's a passage not to be underestimated, but the boat is in great shape, I have done plenty of ocean miles, and we have a full set of race and delivery sails on board. The aim is to sail as well as we can whilst having fun in the process!

Happy for crew to join for each leg, or for the whole crossing. Would like to spend some time talking on the phone so we can all make sure we will get on well together.

  • Boat descriptionThe Boat; it's a First 40.7 called "Playing Around" which is fully set up for offshore racing, and has had the big two mods needed for these boats - it has a carbon rudder and has had the keel matrix re-bonded and strengthened.  She is a strong and fast boat fully kitted out with one season old race sails and five spinnakers and assymetrics...  The Ethos; the atmosphere on the boat is supportive, fairly laid back but absolutely on it when we race.  It's a rule on our boat that we don't shout, we encourage but we also recognise that we all want to sail the best we can and be as competitive as possible.  It's a good fun boat, for all that - and we can pretty much guarantee a good laugh (and bad jokes) on deliveries and in the quieter stretches of races!
