Sydney sailing...
I don't have any plans for distance cruising in '24 (I spent 8 months last year cruising Whitsundays), so will be making Broken Bay and Pittwater area my base for the foreseeable future. Company is always welcome (I am a bit over solo sailing.... ?) so local day sailing or weekend trips?
My boat is a fast, yet comfortable cruiser (designed and built in N.Z.). Easy to sail, and very forgiving. A new Volvo engine. Comfy aft cabin and a spacious cabin in forepeak. Large u-shaped galley. 70 litre fridge/freezer. Hot and cold water. TV, 500Ah batteries, 240V inverter, LPG stove/oven. Autopilot, chartplotter, sailing instruments, HF radio. I have dive tanks and all spare scuba equip onboard. There's plenty of room aboard, so privacy is assured.
I am a very experienced sailor who never takes chances at sea. Fit and healthy. An easy-going and practical person.
Some sailing experience would be great but is not necessary. Just be eager to learn and get involved.
Expected:
- Good companionship, with a can-do attitude.
- I am responsible, and would expect the same.
- Have a sense of humour - let's have fun!
- The crew will be asked to make a contribution to food expenses only. The boat is my home anyway, so there's no need to contribute to maintenance costs, marina fees, etc.
Nice to make a new sailing friend.
I had a lot of fun day-sailing with Duncan while I was living in Sydney for a few months. He was very hospitable and took me out on his lovely yacht which he keeps in an immaculate state. He is a safe and able yachtsman and taught me a little about sailing and trusted me to steer his vessel as much or as little as I wanted. The second time I sailed with Duncan, I brought my Danish friend along for the day out, and the three of us moored up in a cove and hiked up to a secluded waterfall and swimming pools. Very nice to make a new sailing friend and I wish Duncan all the best and happy sailing in the future.
