Dear Recruiter / Captain,
I am writing to express my strong interest in joining a professional crew as a Mate or Deckhand, with the goal of expanding my sea time and working towards a Captain's role. I am an Italian seafarer with a lifelong passion for the sea, currently transitioning into the professional yachting industry after a successful 22 year career in transport safety and logistics.
I hold an Italian Nautical License (Unlimited, Sail & Motor up to 24m), STCW Basic Training including PSA, and I am actively pursuing my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and GOC certification (scheduled for early 2026). My practical experience is built on extensive coastal voyages and international transfers across the Mediterranean.
What sets me apart is my technical versatility and crisis management background:
Technical Skills: I am a practical, hands-on crew member with deep interest in marine electronics and solid practical skills in general mechanics, plumbing, and carpentry. I am always keen to maintain and repair vessel systems.
Safety & Management: My 22-year tenure for the Italian National Railways has forged my ability to handle high-pressure situations, manage passenger safety, and resolve conflicts with diplomacy and discretion. I am calm, reassuring, and safety-oriented by nature.
I am fluent in Italian, speak good English, and have elementary Spanish. I’m a former lifeguard, a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, and I practice underwater and aerial photo/video (A1/A3 drone license). If needed, I can shoot original material with my own equipment. I’m eager to bring maturity, a strong work ethic, and enthusiasm to your crew.
