Looking for a Competent Crew, Mile building or Voluntary work position
Hi - I've just joined Crewbay. I'm interested in finding a position as a Competent Crew, Mile building or Voluntary work. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people!
My name is Jens, 57 years old, married, one daughter (26 years old). I live in Uckermark, northeast of Berlin, Germany. After working as a renewable energy engineer for 25 years (focus on solar energy), it was time for a change. I`ve been lifeguard and operation manager in a small seaside resort for the last 6 years. It is fulfilling to teach children to swim and be in contact with people. I have the luxury being able to sail to work in my sailing dinghy - the farm community with currently 7 adults, where I have lived for over 30 years, is right on the other side of the lake (in fact I do only few time a year, mostly by bicycle).
I am friendly, communicative, open, solution-oriented in dealing with conflicts and close to people. I've been on "big ships" over 3 months in the past years (>1000nm logged), on a 100 ft gaffelrigg schoner on the way from New York to caribean (8 weeks, only 3 people aboard, 2023/2024); a week island hopping in Croatia (catamaran), once around Mallorca (monohull), one week near Dutch coast on a plate boat. Offshore Sailing Licence since 2025. So far very rarely seasick (some days at >40kts wind and 12ft wave).
I'm looking forward to learn more about sailing, living together on board, to new experiences with people and nature.
