Looking for a Skipper, Competent Crew, Mile building, Racing crew or Voluntary work position
Hello. I am seeking opportunities as a Skipper, Competent Crew, Mile Builder, Racing Crew, or for voluntary sailing roles.
Over the last three years I have been regularly sailing a thirty‑eight foot sloop from Pin Mill on the River Orwell, and out of Felixstowe and Harwich. A lot of this time has been spent at the helm, supporting the yacht owner who purchased the boat with no previous sailing experience. This has given me plenty of hands‑on sailing experience and a solid understanding of practical seamanship.
To strengthen my skills as I moved from inland to coastal waters, I have completed the Royal Yachting Association First Aid, VHF Short Range Certificate, Powerboat Level Two, Day Skipper, classroom‑based Yachtmaster theory, and the Royal Yachting Association Sea Survival course. I thoroughly enjoy coastal sailing and the challenges it brings, and I am keen to broaden my experience further as I work towards the Yachtmaster practical.
My sailing began as a teenager on the Norfolk Broads, mostly in dinghies. I currently sail a Wayfarer World from Hickling Broad and am an active member of Hickling Sailing Club, where I regularly assist with safety boat duties. This background has given me strong boat‑handling skills and confidence in a wide range of conditions.
I am based in North Norfolk, although distance is not an issue. My job involves frequent travel, and I routinely cover long distances, including regular trips of over two hundred miles to Chichester.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to crew, helm, or skipper. I am easygoing, physically fit, punctual, and completely reliable. I run three times a week, take everything in my stride, and enjoy working as part of a team. I am also an engineer and a good cook.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Wishing you fair weather and happy sailing, Peter
