Ex-USCG crew looking to build sailing experience
I’m looking for opportunities to build sailing miles and hands-on sailing experience with an experienced and safety-minded skipper. I’m particularly interested in coastal cruising, offshore passages, and delivery-style trips, but I’m open to shorter sails if they involve proper watchkeeping and learning.
I’m happy to join as extra crew, watchstander, or engineer/deckhand support, and I’m comfortable standing lookout watches, following passage routines, and taking instruction. While my sailing experience is still developing, I bring strong seamanship fundamentals, mechanical skills, and a calm, reliable presence onboard.
I’m especially interested in boats where I can:
• Learn sail handling, trim, reefing, and offshore procedures
• Stand proper watches (including night watches)
• Contribute through maintenance, troubleshooting, and deck work
• Build experience toward longer offshore passages
I value clear communication, safety-first decision-making, and a positive onboard dynamic. I’m punctual, adaptable, and easy to live with, and I’m happy to contribute to watch rotations, cooking, cleaning, and general boat upkeep.
Open to both experience-building and paid opportunities, depending on the trip and responsibilities.
