Norwegian looking for adventure, cruising and expeditions
Hi,
I'm Svein, a 38 year old Norwegian who spent the last 10 years or so in Singapore and Shanghai. Quit my job in June last year to take a long break (that keeps getting longer). Wanted to cross a few things off my bucket list (that also keeps getting longer), one of which was taking extended sailing trip.
I've worked in the maritime industry all my life, but never really did much on the sea itself aside from some powerboating. I've got a inshore skipper cert, and have had some time sailing since. Last was about a month in Queensland in October on a catmaran, exploring Whitsundays, the outer reef and getting caught in a storm.
I really enjoyed the cruising life, and would like to do more of it. The end goal would be to make a decision on whether to get my own boat in the end and dedicate the next few years to doing it. i know ultimately I'll have to get back into an office and get a paycheck, but I'd rather have some adventures done now rather than in 20 years.
I'm fairly sociable and tolerant. I've got some sailing experience and I'm quick to learn on some of the mechnical things. I don't have any specific dietary issues aside from being allergic to shellfish (but we're talking hayfever symptons, not like I'm gonna explode or anything). I eat basically anything. I will give heads-up that I am a terrible cook, but I learn quick and the main chef onboard can use me for cutting and other grunt work. Cleaning dishes can always be my job! On that note I prefer things to be nice and tidy, so there won't be any issues with that.
I do not smoke and would prefer if the rest of the boat doesn't either. If someone does, then I prefer they do it outside. Both due to smell, but also the safety aspect.
I can drink, but also don't mind if it is a dry boat.
I'm free from roughly the middle of March and have got zero forward commitments.
