Grown-up transatlantic sailor and STCW pro getting back into sailing
Hi, in my earlier life I did a decade of RORC and ISORA offshore races culminating in crewing the winner of the Mount Gay Transatlantic Race. I did my sailing before qualifications were a big thing, so I'm currently studying Yachtsmaster theory and hope to gain RYA Coastal Skipper ticket this year.
I'm also a keen diver and have been a professional Bosun on Valhalla, one of the best dive boats in Orkney.
Much of my sailing career was racing, and I do like to sail boats fast and efficiently, but I'm also happy to chill and stick a barbecue on. I'm laid-back, practical, happy to unblock a toilet or empty a bilge, and I'm a pretty good cook. If I can get hold of some dive gear, maybe I can get us some lobsters...
I'd be a great fit for: a skipper who needs someone who can be left to get on with things and values a crew who's reliable and has a grown-up attitude to life and the sea. If you like to chill and spin salty yarns of an evening over sundowners, I'm your man.
I'm probably not right for: a loud party boat, Reform voters, bitcoin bros.
If you sound like the former and not the latter, please get in touch. I'm semi-retired so can be flexible about dates.
