William
I am currently skippering a 20m cutter rigged ketch in Antigua and the Caribbean. I crossed on it from Plymouth in the UK via Madeira, Tenerife and the Cape Verde Islands.
I have been sailing since 2016 and in that time have completed trips of various lengths and styles, with varying roles on the Scottish west coast, the Aegean, the Baltic, the Mediterranean, Portuguese coast, Biscay, the North sea and the Irish Sea, as well as the Kiel and Caledonian canals, totalling over 14,000 nm on both monohulls and catamarans, and both professionally and recreationally.
I have completed a few courses over the years. They don't make you a master of anything but they gave me the foundations I then developed through experience. On the water I did my Comp Crew and Day Skipper on the west coast of Scotland. Along with this I have my Yachtmaster shorebased, VHF radio licence, First aid, Sea survival and Diesel engine maintenance. I also have my Powerboat level two in case the need ever arises. I do enjoy a course!! I am certified up to PADI Advanced Open Water too, although wouldn't say I'm the most experienced diver but always keen to do a little if the opportunity arises.
I loved the Baltic for what it had to offer just as much as I have the Aegean, the Med and the rugged coasts of Scotland and Galicia. I'm dreaming of an ocean, the South American fjords, ice sailing in Antarctica and the Arctic, the Pacific...I'm pretty open. I can cook, provision and I love getting my hands dirty on an engine. Generally I get on well with people. I'm always looking out for an interesting trip or to work with interesting people doing interesting things
