Hi,
We are a crewing couple looking to help an owner get their pride and joy safely across the Ocean or for those who need a hand whilst cruising.
We don’t need the miles , we just love the ocean and dealing with the challenges that inevitably arise on a boat. We are boat owners ourselves, sailing in Scotland during our summers and sailing abroad in the winter.
I have Completed 8 Transatlantic crossings , 5 in large powered vessels years ago but in Dec2021,Dec2022, Jan2024 and Jan2025 I sailed across in lagoon catamarans,
3 as crew , 1 as First Mate (references from previous yacht owners available ) In Addition I've crewed from St Martin to the USA via the Bahamas, Canaries to Cape Verde, Norway to Scotland.
On each boat I have sailed on the owners have asked me to come back out and sail with them again which, I would like to think , shows that I was competent.
My Partner Zahra (55) and myself(62) are recently retired from the Uk Emergency services. We can keep a cool head in a crisis, follow instructions , have a proper understanding of the chain of command and reamain focused whilst on shift even though we are wet ,cold and tired.
I am trained in first aid , sea survival , marine firefighting , aviation firefighting and Helicopter underwater escape training I can bring a set of skillls that hopefully you would never need. I have a PADI advanced diver ticketas well.
I have way more than just a working knowledge of Diesel engines and can strip a cyl head, lap the valves and seats and rebuild without issue. I maintain a good understanding of boat systems and fault finding from years of own boat ownership.
What Zahra lacks in lacks in technical knowledge she makes up for in Culinary tallent with a degree in hospitality management prior to the Police Service.
As an RYA Yachtmaster I can hold night watch and allow you to sleep soundly knowing your vessel is in safe hands.
We don’t smoke , take drugs or bring any immature drama or life baggage. We have a good sense of humour and are able to hold a conversation on almost any topic. As boat owners ourselves we fully appreciate the need for cleanliness and hygiene in a confined space.
Any trips considered , I have sailed the Atlantic East to West (2021 & 2022 & 2024) but we are fortunate to have the time and good health to go anywhere. Open to trips of any length, whether crossing an Ocean or extended cruising for several months.
I hold a UK passport with a B1/B2 US visa Zahra also holds a US visa
