YM offshore, commercially endorsed, looking to join company or individuals with their own boat 2020.
Hello and thank you for reading my profile;
I have now got to the stage in life with no dependents or commitments that going to normal work is starting to feel more and more of a grind offering no more challenges and at the age of 56 life is becoming too short to miss out on what the world has to offer.
For the past 25 years I have been working as a civil servant and for the MoD as a specialist instructional officer. I have taught aspects of driving related matters to the armed forces, this could be in the classroom with 20 students to small groups and then on a 2:1 ratio teaching cross-country driving, skid control and familiarisation on many of the advanced vehicles. I have also been a contract manager working and controlling over 120 people a day and a budget in excess of £1.5 million.
What I am looking for;
Since I started sailing 8 years ago I have found my passion on the water. I am therefore, looking for a charter company position or one with an individual owner, either as part of a team or as sole skipper, obviously depending on the size. I would relish the challenge on a superyacht and I am under no illusion this would be hard work, but I am prepared to start at the bottom (deckhand) and work up my way up.
I have chartered twice abroad; once on a flotilla in Turkey and secondly a bareboat charter in Croatia. I jointly skipper/race a 32ft (SJ 320) yacht in the UK from a port called Scarborough and have competed in the North Sea Race to Holland 2017 & 2019. Currently my experience has been gained from over 3000 miles racing mainly on weekends on coastal and bay races.
I'm more than happy to take night watches or partake in general maintenance. I don't get sea sick, one of the lucky ones, I'm more than happy to go from the helm, winches, main or standby the galley cooking a meal on the passage. Also just as happy to help plan or take my stint at the chart table. I have done some cruising on a catamaran in 2018, sailing down from Corsica to Sicily as part of a holiday with a member from ‘Crewbay’ fraternity and again in 2019 sailed on 52ft Oceanis down the west leg of Italy.
Thank you for looking at my profile and if you think I can become an asset I will give you 100% total commitment, trust and diligence in my duties.
