Enthusiastic, good humoured, warm hearted sailor looking for some sailing in the meds or Atlantic crossing
Sailing:
I've done my fresh waters certificate in Switzerland about 6 years ago. Shortly after I started "collecting" 1000nm to get my high seas certificate (in Switzerland that's what you need to do). I don't really mind much what exactly I can / have to do aboard, because basically I want to look into everything that needs to be done on a ship. I'm happy to scrub the decks, clean the galley every night, cook, stand night watches, etc. as long as there's good company and I can gain experience. I spent 10 days in Croatia to do the coastal skipper certificate and did a little bit of sailing in the Wadden Sea, too. My most amazing and longest sailing experience though was helping a captain delivering his boat from Sicily to Almerimar in Southern Spain. We did 860nm and had one 50 hours trip where I could do a few night watches. All I'm asking for is a safe ship with a person or people who are willing to share their knowledge and to build a sense of community on the ship. Laughter and not taking things and ourselves to seriously is so important ! So is listening to each other, helping out where it's needed and building trust. And of course a common sense of responsibility. In 2018 I chartered a boat for the very first time with two friends, we sailed from Germany to Sweden and up the coast, that was brilliant ! I'm really interested in an alternative way of living (currently I live on a farm house with 9 other people) and at some point would love to combine my passions, tango and playing music, with the life on board of a sail ship.
Travels and myself:
I would describe myself as a rather free spirited traveller and curious for anything new. I travelled to the States, Bali, Hong Kong and Africa, I spent 6 months surfing in Australia, I lived and worked in the UK for some time, I spent some months in Cuba, did an exchange semester in Buenos Aires, worked in a surf school in Costa Rica and lived in Barcelona up until last year. I saw pretty much all of Europe in my VW bus and I'm a big fan of hitch hiking. I have many passions in life, one is music. I play the drums and the guitar and currently I'm working for a music venue where I organise concerts and a festival. Also this summer I worked as a gardener in an environmental education project with children. I'm a culture and language enthusiast. I love reading. One long-term goal of mine is to feel secure enough to be a captain myself one day. I want to be on the sea and be capable of handling a ship. Oh, and two things at the end: 1st. I had to decide whether I'm a smoker or not, well, basically I sometimes do smoke, but I don't have to. So if it's a ship where one can't smoke, no problem for me. Neither is the other way round. 2nd. I am a vegetarian / unsuccessful vegan. Obviously no problem at all for me if others around me eat meat&fish, but I simply can't prepare any food including meat&fish. But I'm a pretty good vegan cook. Just thought it might be important to some people :)
