I am a qualified and commercially endorsed RYA/MCA and an ISA yachtmaster offshore both of power and sail. I am commercially licenced to 200gt.
I currently work with, Mezzo Magic, Mallorca as a captain and maintenance manager on their eight vessels.

I have worked for 5 years as a professional skipper with G Adventures, (One of the worlds most prestigious independent adventure travel companies -http://www.gadventures.com ).
I am a competent long distance and heavy weather sailor.
I have experience as a sailing skipper in the North and Mid Atlantic, the North Pacific, South and East China Seas, Gulf of Aden, the Indian Ocean, Med and many other areas.
I have an adventurous nature and I am told that I am easy to get along with. I am used to positions of responsibility and I am never reckless with people or their property/boats.

My background is in Geology, light engineering and structural engineering and design. I have been sailing since the age of 11. I have always been interested in the extremes of seamanship and I have consciously honed my skills as a long distance and heavy weather sailor. In 2008 I entered the marine industry full time as business. This meant a substantial cutback in income but there is more to life than money.

Baltic Delivery October 2021
Ivan delivered our 16m wooden fishing trawler from Ventspils, Latvia to Cuxhaven, Germany. With an unproven boat and crew, Ivan was an absolute professional and a pleasure to be around. Entire crew felt safe under his command, and loved working with him. Ivan took time away from his family in order to help out some strangers in their quest to refit their old fishing boat. Ivan absolutely over delivered on everything we could have expected from him, and I very much look forward to working with him again. I'd put down 10 stars if it were an option.
