Looking for winter / spring sailing opportunities, Skitour / Splitboard anyone?
Quit the full time rat race Feb 2018 in the automotive/trucking/alternative fuel industry. Mechanical engineer experienced with engines, electrical systems, machining, construction, hands on fabrication and navigation.
Last year I made it on a 37 ft sloop rig sailboat from the Caribbean (St. Martin) to Greece (Ionian Coast). I took over as captain in Portugal and organized/carried out the final leg to Greece with some friends. I handled the haul-out and winterizing tasks/servicing end of season as well. In between that trip, I helped out the owner of a 41 ft ketch on his final leg home from the Azores to Southampton. We double-handed bashing into in easterlies for 13 of the 16 day passage. Rough but learned a lot!
I enjoy splitboarding / skitouring, snowboarding, skiing, surfing, mountaineering, backpacking/winter camping, paddle boarding, mountain biking and of course sailing! Last year I got my PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification and starting to enjoy diving as well. Most recent dives have been in Sicily and Malta this past month while sailing around there.
Opportunities that allow us to get some splitboarding/skitouring done would be highly considered.
