*** CURRENTLY OUT ON THE BIG BLUE ***

My name is Sanne and I am from the Netherlands. For the past 12 years I have visited many places in the world due to educational purposes, travels, work or voluntary contribution. The ocean is my inspiration and that's why I decided to follow my grandpa's footsteps and become a professional seafarer.

I obtained all my necessary certificates (STCW, Powerboat Level II & Deckhand Course) in March 2019. Last year I added Food Safety level 2 to my resume to be able to work in the galley. I have experience with provisioning, cooking, watch-keeping, helmsman, stewardess and on deck, both professional and voluntary over the last 2 years. Furthermore, I bring a massive wave of ambition, motivation and good vibes only.

During my studies at University I specialized in sustainability in business with a focus on marine litter. Because of the international character of the study and all my travels, I have experience working in a multicultural environment. My mindset is towards sustainable living and I try to convert this into my lifestyle as much as possible. For this reason, my diet is mainly vegetarian with an occasional (own-caught) fish or some seafood as exception - and I love to cook one of my signature dishes.

My background includes many years of hospitality experience. Dishes and doing laundry calm me down. In my free time I try to spend every second with my toes in the sand. I recently picked up kite surfing and surfing and really enjoy the playtime in the water. Listening to music (and singing along) or reading an interesting book are among my other interests.

After many years going around the world and learning from every second of it, my new long term goal is to learn how to sail and get my own boat to cruise around in about five years from now. To become a confident sailor, I have been volunteering on different vessels and got to add over 7000NM and the Atlantic crossing to my experiences. More windy experiences were made in the first half of 2021 crewing on a 90' catamaran and adding a second Atlantic crossing and another 5500NM to my resume.

Even though I am already committed to another sailing vessel for the next foreseeable future, I am always happy to hear from fellow like-minded sailors. After all, it is a small blue watery world and I am sure we will run into each other sooner or later. Please don't hesitate to send me a message with any questions you might have.

Fair winds & happy sailing!

Amazing person!

Sanne sailed with me full-time for four months. She is the hardest working person to have ever set foot on Sabado. Her attention to safety, happiness, and details were without fault. She is one of the few people I've had at the helm during overnight passages where I felt comfortable sleeping. Sanne provisioned the boat for months without my help. She treated Sabado as if she were her own and treated the rest of the crew as family. I would, without hesitation, welcome Sanne onboard again.
