Experienced crew (motor boats), seeking sail boat experience
Hello, since 2013 I have been working aboard prawn trawlers in Australia . I started as completly green crew and progressed from cook to deckhand and then to first mate which I have been for the last 3 years. All my experience is in motor driven vessels, but I am now looking to expand my vessel knowlage and have decided to learn to sail.
I have extensive watch keeping experience and a solid knowlage of the ocean.
I love boats and living/working on the ocean.
I have an easy going, fun loving nature, but I am also extremely hard working and dedicated. One of my strongest skills is that I love to learn and pick things up very quickly.
For the last 5 years I have also been a qualified SSI dive master (over 350 dives) and have all my own equipment.
At the moment I spend around 7 months a year at sea with my longest stint at 4 months without touching land. I do not suffer from sea sickness and am used to working in rough weather conditions.
I currently hold up to date elements of shipboard safety (ESS), radio and radar, advanced first aid and CPR certifications.
I am open to all opportunities and have no preference on location. I just want to learn as much as I can about sailing and navigation.
I hope to hear from you soon :-)
