Watch: Sailing north of Svalbard
Looking for a Novice Crew position
I’ve traveled around the world, trekked in the Himalayas, cleaned northern shores in the Arctic (Svalbard) to save the marine life and cycle centuries in the Utah high mountains. I didn’t get to jump from airplanes but that’s on the list too. Now though, it’s time to sail the seas, visit distance shores and share adventures and stories.
I recently completed ASA 101-104 and I’m eager to get real world experience cruising along the shores and crossing the oceans. I’m easy going, relaxed, fast learner and dependable. Since I’d like to get my own boat one day, I’d love to try my hands on every possible type of work on the boat, from navigating and night watches to climbing the mast, from working on the engine to scraping the bottom, and I don’t shy from cleaning and cooking (I can follow a recipe :-). And when it’s all said and done, I enjoy relaxing, scuba diving, a beautiful sunset and good humor.
I just retired from research at the university, the kids have left the house and my schedule is flexible. And when I get my own boat one day, I’d like to sail to high latitude, from the Arctic and the Northern Passage all the way to Antarctica (but if you are going there now than I’d love to join).
