Novice, hard-working crew seeking legitimate learning experience
Aloha,
I am a passionate waterwoman seeking to expand her limited experience with sailing vessels. I have worked as a crew member/ snorkel guide on a 65ft catamaran and have some recreational experience with habitable monohull sailboats. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia but have lived on O'ahu since 2015. I have a background in both marine biology and psychology (animal behavior), and have previously held a career working long, dirty, physical hours outdoors with various marine mammals (and some penguins). Currently, I am employed in the coconut tree trimming and harvesting business. On weekdays I climb coconut trees (with gear and ropes - but no spikes) and then we cut/sell the coconuts at local farmer's markets on the weekends. In terms of other random skill sets, I also have moderate to high Spanish proficiency after a language immersion semester spent in Costa Rica as well as a minor degree of study in photography. I have my Open Water SCUBA as well as my Basic Freediver cert from PADI. I am healthy, athletic, passionate and hard working, but inexperienced so I would appreciate any opportunity that allows me to build quality base of skills for sailing and navigating.
Mahalo,
Kari
