Newbie seeking short term commitment in April or after June 1st
So as not to waste your time before you read on! :
-I am vegan and need to find a boat that can accommodate. More than happy to cook for myself and others.
-I am interested in a short term commitment (1-2 weeks) during the month of April or after June 1st, 2024. I am willing to travel to the boat (within reason of my budget). I am located in the US on the east coast.
-I do not have sailing experience. I do have ample experience doing day trips on the water doing marine research and scuba.
-My goal in seeking a sailing opportunity is to learn the ropes of sailing with a competent captain/crew to see if long-term sailing is something I enjoy!
howdy! my name is Alyssa, I am 24 years old and I grew up in New Jersey. I have recently completed my degree in environmental studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder in the US.
some of my hobbies include reading, crocheting, photography, traveling and volunteering. I am an amateur photographer and videographer and would be interested in bringing my equipment and contributing to your filmmaking and photography if you already have something going on (YouTube, instagram, etc.). Or if it's something you're interested in trying, I'd be willing to give it a go with you!
my favorite kinds of outdoor adventures include SCUBA, backpacking, camping, hiking, skiing, slacklining and recently running! I just signed up for my first half marathon with some friends at the end of May (hence my unavailability). I would love to one day expand into air sports like hang-gliding and skydiving and water sports like water skiing and kite surfing.
I am a PADI certified scuba diver with ~30 dives under my belt and my highest certification is advanced OW. I also have a NAUI marine research cert which I obtained last yeardoing weekly field research during an abroad program on the island of South Caicos. I love the ocean and am seeking an opportunity to learn the ropes of sailing and experience life at sea with likeminded people:)

I’m interested in sailing and alternative living (van life, off grid, eco villages, tiny homes). Sailing and the boating lifestyle is very intriguing to me and I'd love to give it a real go! I am looking for people who know what they are doing and are willing to teach a total beginner.
While I have spent many days on both motor and sail boats for diving and recreation, I have never spent a night on a boat. I do experience sea sickness in rough conditions. I have never chummed the water but I get nauseous. I would like to find a shorter commitment (1 week minimum, few weeks max.) to see how I handle life at sea before seeking a longer trip.
Communication is very important to me! And I imagine it is important when sailing and living in close quarters. I am seeking a captain/crew with solid communication skills regarding teaching and interpersonal matters. I am a very social person and love spending time with others BSing, playing cards, exploring islands, drinks, what have you. But I find that I need time to myself to recharge my social batteries.
