100 Ton Master w/ Sail looking for professional or casual crewing opportunities.
I am looking to join any delivery of a sailboat in the vicinity of the Southern US, Caribbean, and Central/South America this winter.
My name is Connor and I have been sailing both professionally and casually since I was 12 years old. I hold a 100 Ton Master Inland License with sail and tow endorsements. I have experience in anything from racing dinghies and ocean cruisers to schooners and tall ships. Professionally, I held sailing instructor positions for several years in Washington State, was a deckhand on a 3-masted schooner in Virginia, and have been part of delivery crews throughout the Caribbean and Central America. I also hold several pilot certifications and ratings (airplane pilot - not harbor pilot), was a wildland firefighter for a few years, and am always an avid outdoorsman.
I have a relaxed personality and I get along with everybody of all age groups and backgrounds. I respect others' opinions and beliefs and I have interpersonal skills practiced through teaching kids, maintaining relationships with their parents, managing staff, entertaining and working around passengers, and deescalating and resolving issues.
I will provide you with professional and character references and a full sailing resume on request. I am happy to call or video chat on whatsapp. My number is +1 253 861 8195 or email me at connor.hoeksema@gmail.com

Excellent Sailor
Reliable, hard working, and a very competent sailor. These are a few words that come to mind to describe working with Mr. Hoeksema. A young man with quality experience, any Skipper or owner would find themselves lucky and gracious to have Connor aboard their vessel. We’ve sailed over 1500 nm together on charters and deliveries and he’s always willing to take the dirty job, whip up a quick meal when no one else can, and keeps a cold clean head when faced with a challenge. Totally trustworthy on watch. Not to mention he’s a hell of a helmsman, and his demeanor under pressure is both thrilling and reassuring, which speaks to his experience as a sailor and a pilot. I personally witnessed him sail into a slippery inlet and onto dock with 30kts of wind, cross current, with breakers and rip rap on either side. He’s pretty fun to hang with also, especially if you enjoy a bit of marlinspike. He’s going places and you’d be lucky to hire him.
