Hi, folks !!! Greetings from Canada !!! Happy to be a part of this group... excited to be a member of this community...
I am a male of 59 y. o. of a Russian origin with a Canadian citizenship. I have been living in Montreal, Canada...for 16 years. I am hooked on the idea of sailing ( and living full time on a boat). I have been watching these videos about boats, yachts, sailing... etc on YouTube for a long time now and I finally decided that it is what I want to do with my life...
Due to divorce now I have a lot of free time on my hands, but I do not have a boat. Neither do I have much of a sailing experience, but this is what I would like to do with my life - to go sailing... Eventually, with time I will get myself a boat, but before that I need to gain some sailing experience... My plan was to go to Caribbean and explore sailing opportunities (local Caribbean regattas often look for volunteers) but with this corona virus situation everything is uncertain now and for now I am stuck in Canada (my home)
I am looking to join a crew to sail anywhere in the Caribbean to begin with. I have done some leisure cruises in the past and I am in love with the ocean. I would love to move from the rat race city life to a full time boat life. I am a novice sailer with a little experience but I developed this passion for sailing. I am honest and am comfortable with the uncomfortable, I do not mind to do night watches and whatever it takes to be a part of any crew. I am reliable person with good work ethics... very sociable and willing to learn as much as I can about boats and sailing. I am ready for adventure and would like to join a great crew. I know that I would be a great asset to any crew, that is if I am given a chance....
I speak Russian ( my mother language), I also speak English (fluent enough) and I just finished two year Spanish course ( necesito práctica para mejorar mi idioma ) I am also in videography and could make more or less decent videos... (I recently started my youtube channel- It is called Sailing with Vlad) Even though it is in Russian language for the most part, each video has English description under it and in the future (once I start sailing) I plan editing my videos in English
I realise that this situation with corona virus is not in my favor while seeking sailing opportunities, but I am putting a word out in hopes that someone out there at some point might be looking for an honest reliable, goal oriented, easy going individual like me... I really want to learn as much as I can about boats and sailing... Would be nice to be a part of any crew even for a short period of time... Now, since I know what to do with my life I will always be looking to meet new friends with who I have same passion - boats and sailing ...
