Voluntary crew in the Caribbean, looking to travel from Barbados to Mexico somehow and with no planes!
I hope to be arriving in Barbados in early February aboard the Tres Hombres, an engine-less brigantine (so I'll have an Atlantic crossing under my belt) and am looking for opportunities across the Caribbean, specifically to take me West from Barbados and start climbing up the windwards and then leewards, eventually making it to Mexico (somehow) - and without using a plane! Many different small trips would be ideal, but one long adventure may also be perfect.
I speak native Spanish and English, and fluent French that I learned later on. I have recently got my TEFL English teacher qualification and a lot of the theory applies for teaching Spanish and French too, which I have some experience in anyway (having taught them at school).
I am quite handy and am always looking to repair things. I have a very positive view of reusing and repairing as much as possible and am extremely environmentally minded. I am also very adventurous and have a passion for travel (and more so sustainable travel). I also like documenting my adventures and have built websites, so if you have an online presence this can work well, but I will also welcome a detachment from the busy world wide web.
A good example of all of these is my 3000km bike ride from England to Spain on a bike I found in the bin and repaired myself (having had no experience of bike repairs previously and teaching myself). The ride was part of a university project and this is the link to the website: https://trailsofsustainableliving.wordpress.com/
I have just graduated as a history student from the University of Warwick so I'm also eager to ponder about the state, nature, and history of society and humanity. Upon reflection I have come to the conclusion that I am not too keen on the more conventional lifestyle (9-5, working yourself into an early grave) and would rather live on very little money and instead spend my time creating new and wonderful experiences, meeting new and fascinating people, and constantly learning (languages, ways to travel, new skills, the history of a place, or ways to empower my own and everyone else's freedom).
In short: I'm looking for as many opportunities in and around the Caribbean, I have no fixed schedule but am due to arrive in Barbados in very early February 2022, I am looking to help with absolutely everything, and will be glad to share knowledge of English, Spanish, French, and History.
