Looking for a Novice Crew, Friendship or Voluntary work position

Hey There,

My name is Máté a 35 year-old engineer who decided to live a more joyful and sustainable life. After cycling 3500km and walking 2000km across Europe to South-Portugal I’m ready continue my “zero emission” journey to an other continent slowly. Currently I’m staying close to Lagos (Algarve) being prepared to get on board anytime if someone would be so nice to take an enthusiastic beginner with herself/himself first to the Canary islands and then eventually to Central America.

I only have a small sailing experience, this year in June I joined a 12m sailing boat from South Portugal all along the coast up to Galicia, Spain. It was a 2,5 weeks journey(looooot of upwind:) ), where I could take some nightshifts and tried to help in everything I could.

About me, I’m a cheerful social guy, people say easy to get along with. I consider myself hardworking and someone who is taking responsibility for things he does. The rest you will know. ;) Hope we can share out journey. Cheers, Máté

We had the pleasure to have Maté onboard. Yes, pleasure. It was amazing. He didn't have experience when he joined and yet he managed to sail around 500nm against the wind, waves and current. All this without a single complain and a smile on his face. I hope one day we (or you!) can show Maté that there are other points of sail apart from upwind . He is a quick learner and soon became more usefull than most people that claim to have experience. He d steer in rough seas for hours, always with a good mood. We also did night sailing and Maté did great. He s the prove that having experience is not as needed as people say. If you have someone like him willing to learn and being positive, it works. I could keep writting about how cool he is because we are truly happy to have had him on board, and even happier that we became friends with him but, I 'll let you see it for yourself. Because if I keep writting its going too look too cheesy. Maté is a good person, good to have around, and thats it. When you re good you re good.
