Looking for a Competent Crew, Mile building or Deckhand position
I am interested in finding a position as a Competent Crew, Mile building or Deckhand.
In 2013 I bought a damaged 32 ft O'Day centre cockpit sloop, repaired the keel, rudder skeg, and hull, and since then have been sailing the coast of British Columbia single handed.
I do all repairs, maintenance, and modifications myself. Prior to the purchase of La Garza, I completed the 5 day CYA Day Skipper course in 2012.
In February and March of this year (2022), I crewed on Wandaus, a 15 m Westerly Oceanmaster, for 30 days in the southern Caribbean. We made crossings from Bocas del Toro to San Andres, back south to Guna Yala, then to Cartagena.
My goals are to gain offshore experience (navigation, weather planning) and improve my sail trimming skills.
I am a recently retired Captain from the Surrey Fire Service, Surrey, British Columbia, with First Responder CPR/AED certificates, and Hazardous Materials Technician qualification. Also NAUI Open Water.
My second language is Spanish, learned while living in Costa Rica for 10 years running adventure travel expeditions (whitewater kayaking and rafting, sea kayaking, mountain biking, hiking).
I am currently residing in Peru.
