Looking for a Competent Crew position
Hi, I’ll be in Le Marin from 26th February and am looking for any opportunities to crew on any size or type of sailing boat till end of March if heading north or mid April if heading south.
I’ve left behind my career in optometry in order to have the flexibility to pursue my outdoor interests of sailing, Munro bagging and skiing. I crewed in the British Isles and Mediterranean this summer and have had quite a bit of recent experience doing night watch and sailing in rough sea conditions. I am looking to join a new boat shortly as my current skipper, who would be happy to supply a reference has family arriving.
I completed RYA day skipper many years ago and would say I’m currently somewhere between comp crew and day skipper.
Great crew
Christine joined Jandina, a 37ft Hallberg Rassy, in Ullapool, and completed a long trip round to Dartmouth. The conditions in July 2023 were “ challenging”. For a considerable part of the trip we were only two crew, and then for the rest we were with novice sailors. She is a lovely person to sail with, but a little modest about her skills which I would put easily as day skipper level , not competent crew. She did night sail watches on her own. Two memorable nights were our trip across the Irish Sea, and a voyage from Padstow to the Helford River, in F5/6 , and horrible seas. She copes very well in these conditions. Christine is great company and an excellent cook, I learnt a lot from her in this regard! I would thoroughly recommend her as a member of your crew.
