Looking for an Atlantic Crossing (Competent Crew, Voluntary work or Mile building position)
Hi fellow sailors! I'm eager to embark on an Atlantic crossing from the Caribbean to Europe this May, accumulate more offshore sailing experience, and bolster my nautical mileage. My availability spans from May to July, with the exact dates open for discussion. I'm ready to contribute in various capacities – sailing, maintenance, or any hands-on tasks you require. A swift and enthusiastic learner, I'm unafraid to dive into the work, get my hands dirty, and put in the effort. Beyond crewing, I've enjoyed leisure time offshore without ever succumbing to seasickness. My sailing background includes crewing on a 72-foot vessel for ten days (Challenge Wales) and year-round teaching of sailing on various boats (lasers, 420s, cats, and trimarans) since I was 14. While not offshore, this teaching experience has enriched my understanding of the art and nature of sailing. A bit about me – I'm a 22-year-old from the Netherlands, set to begin my master's in Applied Mathematics at TU Delft in September. Seeking a pre-adventure before hitting the books again, making some mileage at sea would be the perfect way to spend my time in advance; the ocean and travel have captured me. I'm sociable, love meeting new people, and delving into different cultures. Whether over a beer and a good conversation or enjoying the tranquility of a stunning view with a captivating book, I adapt easily to various social environments – a valuable trait for a successful ocean crossing.
