Looking for a Novice Crew, Competent Crew, Voluntary work or Delivery Crew position
Ahoy - I'm interested in finding a position as a Novice Crew, Competent Crew, Voluntary work or Delivery Crew. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people!
About me:
2025 UPDATE: I am currently in Thailand aboard the S/Y Odisea, working as a cook and helping here and there with some deckhand and science tasks. We just made the crossing from Seychelles and were at sea for total of 25 days with a few short stops in Maldives, Andaman Islands and Similan Islands.

BUT, unfortunately for me, the boat is going into a three month dry dock here in Phuket to be refitted for improved sailing and prepare it for a projected six year circumnavigation of the planet! So, I will be available for new and exciting sailing opportunities.
Previously and concurrently, I work/volunteer as a fish and wildlife technician in the Pacific Northwest and dedicated the last eight years of my career to Pacific salmon monitoring and research projects in British Columbia and Yukon Territory. So, no stranger to the chilly seas and all the beauty they express. Over the last few years, I prefer to take contracts and travel, remaining flexible to learning opportunities throughout the year in various fields like diving, birding, surfing, diving and more!
How amazing to work with such resilient and transcendent a fish as salmon, not only enabling me to work in rivers, estuaries, marine ecosystems, hatcheries, on research vessel labs but to connect with coastal and inland First Nation communities, fishers and scientist that all work to protect these iconic and essential animals that face so many threats.
Beyond this work, in 2023, I completed a two-month research and conservation focused dive master internship in Raja Ampat so I'm ready to apply those amazing skills and go deep! Check out my grad profile here:

In addition to my work as a technician in the sciences, I am a carpentry apprentice with current experience in roofing, window installation and framing. I actually worked in the trades before the sciences and love combining these skills to remote field work, data collection and even sailing because knowledge about things like independent power systems, tools, site housekeeping and mechanical advantage certainly help when onboard vessels.
As for operating vessels, I have run twin propeller engine zodiac on the ocean, jet boats in the snaggy Taku River near southeast Alaska, carried out boat manager duties on our dive boat in Indonesia and more recently performed almost 80 hours of watch keeping aboard the S/Y Odisea as we traversed the Indian Ocean and Andaman Sea.
I learned to sail with my ex-partner in the Salish Sea off Vancouver Island and fell in love with the art. He was a wonderful teacher and I was tacking alone in no time!
I've also joined winter research expeditions to the high seas on fishing boats where we encountered 9 meter swells and 80 knot winds! What a rush!
My overall goal is to grow a community of kind, strong and open minded sailors, surfers, conservationists, divers and anyone who shares passion for travel, adventure and taking care of our planet. I am a ruthlessly hard worker and can adapt to a variety of group dynamics and tight/minimalist/hot/cold/uncomfortable living quarters.
Please do share your opportunities with me and feel free to ask anything!
